With bigger brands like Walmart and Tesco stealing the headlines with their attempts to "go green", we do forget that Ben & Jerry's are still up there as the leading example of brand's with a social mission. And not just for this month or year whilst its hot. They've been at this for 15-20 years. And its not just a bolt-on, its fully integrated into the way they do business, from sourcing to manufacturing the casues they champion.

Absolutely spot on. Many within what I call the New Green Corp. (be it Tesco's or the Conservative Party in the UK) are superficial and self-serving and merely sizzle in their commitment to the ethical cause. Meanwhile brands such Ben & Jerry's are the true pioneers and should be celebrated for delivering the 'sausage' of what is an ethical brand
