So I was doing my thing at IMM again this year. This event brings content owners, agency folk and brands together to listen to some great speakers. So it is part conference. The EMAP conference people run that bit. Given that IMM is their brand, it makes sense - after all organising conferences is their world.
But the event also requires the attendees to work together in response to a challenging client brief. For the last 6 years, they have kindly asked me to write the case study for the event. Groups are all given the same brief and face a panel of judges at the end of the second day. They have the help of some mentors, who are senior figures in the communications world.
The groups present in front of the judges, and their peers, but are also grilled by the judges with some tough questions on their pitch. This is where some of the groups either crumble or rise to the occasion and demonstrate the strength of their arguments and their ability to think fast on their feet.
M&M are also involved as a communication channel to promote the event and showcase the great young talent in the industry by featuring the winning group.
This year, I also ended up being the chair of the conference, secured some of the speakers as well as sorting the case study part of the event...which was nice.
The location of this year's event was in Selsdon Park.
Nice location, lovely people who worked there. Unfortunately, the food was not so lovely. Also the hunt for a wifi signal that stuck around was a little frustrating. For Hotels to not sort out decent wifi is one of those great mysteries of life...
Anyway, off to post more on the conference bit...
